moto MXGP SWEDEN – ANTON NORDSTRÖM GRAAF 26 August, 2022 Recently Sweden arranged one of the MXGP races in Uddevalla on the Swedish west coast on a track called Glimminge. It was a weekend full of exciting racing and hanging out with all the great people in our community. The one Swedish rider that impressed the most was our own Anton Nordström Graaf. In the first heat, the Wicked rider was out from the first corner just behind the top 20. But he fearlessly climbed his way up to 19th place. With two laps to go, he had dropped to 20th place and was being chaced by both Tom Koch and Kevin Brumann. He gave everything to keep his 20th place and it was a super exciting race to watch the crowd cheer him on and the whole arena followed the duels, but with only a couple of corners left to the finish, Brunmann managed to get past. Crossing the checker flag over one of Glimingen’s spectacular big jumps. We asked Anton to tell us a bit more about the race:“The first heat went very well, I was happy with my riding. I made the wrong track choice with three corners to go and lost the points spot. But I am happy with the riding and it was a personal best in MXGP. That’s something I am proud of. In the second heat, the riding didn’t go as well, and someone decided to take me out by hitting me right in the side, so I had a crash but was then able to finish as 25th. This is a big step forward for me since I had a severe concussion last fall and couldn’t ride for 5 months. It’s only been in the last month that I’ve felt like myself again. I feel a lot more comfortable this year in MXGP than last year” Anton gets ready to head out on the track. The crowd was on their toes when Anton was half a lap to go and was in 20th position, the last position to leave the race with some points. Unfortunately, he made mistakes on a few corners before the checkered flag and crossed the line 1 second behind Kevin Brumann from Switzerland. Anton’s supportersAnton Nordström is not only Wicked Family’s top rider but he is also a very popular guy in the Swedish MX community. Friendly and helpful, Anton always takes time to answer questions and give tips to other riders. He is also trying to give back to the community by arranging camps for young riders. Wicked Youth Riders Casper, Erik, and Elliott were helping us to sell hats in the crowd around the track. Anton has a huge fan club and everywhere supporters were wearing the same Swedish “Epic” jersey as him. Tuva & Mira had a good time as spectators this weekend amongst Anton’s big support team.
